Xavier Correig

X. Correig received his PhD in Telecommunication Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He is currently emeritus Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). Between 2002 and 2006 he was vice-rector of innovation, technology transfer and society at the same university. Since 2007 directs the MetabolomicsPlatform, a scientific infrastructure owned by the URV, the Spanish research institute on diabetes and metabolic diseases (CIBERDEM) and the Institut d’Investigació Sanitària Pere Virgili (IISPV). Its mission is to provide research in metabolomics to the clinical and biomedicine research groups. The present research lines are the development of new solid-sate surfaces and signal processing algorithms for mass spectrometry imaging and new profiling technologies for NMR-metabolomics. He has published more than 280 articles in indexed journals and several invited conferences and has participated in more than 80 competitive projects.
